Vanitas 18 update (05-22-2019)

I started working on Vanitas 18 a few weeks ago. I am hoping I can finish it in early June. This is a relatively larger graphite drawing of 17" x 25". So far I am happy about the way this is going.

Mansfield Art Center 74th Annual May Show

Recently I received good news that my 4 pastel paintings from Vanitas series were accepted into the 74th Annual May Show at Mansfield Art Center, Mansfield Ohio. And one of the pieces "Vanitas 14" won the best of show. It was totally unexpected and was a really nice surprise!

"Strokes of Genius" Volume 11

My drawing Vanitas 11 got accepted into the next edition of Strokes of Genius publication (number 11) as one of the winners. It is going to hit the book stores around the end of this year. This is a beautifully designed annual publication by North Light Books (the publisher of the Artists Magazine) that is dedicated to the art of drawing. This volume's subtitle is "Finding beauty". The juror was one of the artists I admire Steven Assael and I am in a good company of many artists I highly respect in this book. I am extremely honored.

MANIFEST Creative Research and Drawing Center INDA13

I saw one of the test cover designs of MANIFEST Creative Research and Drawing Center's publication International Drawing Annual 13 that is slated to come out at the end of this year. And my drawing "Bronzini" is one of the potential designs. I hope my piece gets picked up as the final. It would be truly an honor. I will keep my fingers crossed.
